Having someone to care for and to care for you brings purpose and meaning. I don't think its about the big picture of an afterlife or paradise. Times without a caring relationship seem the most meaningless. Just my opinion.

Anyone struggle to find meaning in life?
by Good JW injust wondering if this is a common thing for you guys and girls?
when i left the jws it was hard to make a connection with people, much of the time i felt that whatever they wanted to talk about just didn't seem relevant/deep/meaningful.
i find myself filtering my mind to get to a level with others (small talk mostly).

I am getting disfellowshipped
by CitizenofEarth inmaybe some of you remember me, maybe not.
for general information i am now 19 years old, and living by myself.
for the past 1 year (more like 1.5 years) i have been quietly fading out of the hypocrisy of this organization, but since i still live in the town i grew up in it has been hard, and filled with different challenges.

If you have to ask for "Valid points" to bring up, perhaps you don't have your mind made up? The points that expose it for you is what you should present, if you go. I am with the majority, "Stop, Drop and Roll." Don't empower them by submitting to them. You want out? Go let them have it, but know you will seem mean spirited and bitter. Do as you wish.

Were visits to the library an important part of your childhood?
by compound complex ingreetings, fellow bibliophiles:.
i remember how sad i was, as a little child, when our beloved carnegie library was razed (unsafe, structurally).
the same tragedy occurred when we moved to a new town and that similar architectural treasure was demolished to put up a new and gleaming building of steel and glass.

I was a voracious reader. The library was my sanctuary. I had to ride my Schwinn stingray bike almost three miles to get to the library. after spending the day Saturday reading there, I checked out as many books as allowed and devoured them when I got home. (Over the next few weeks). Invariably I had over due fees. My mom was livid. She would drive me to return them and I would get more. I loved biographies! Not bad for 11 and 12 years old. My fascination with short stories and science fiction was huge. When in Jr. High I would cut Spanish class to go to the library and read. I read Alas Babylon about a survived nuke war between the USA and Russia. How I loved the double volume of When Worlds Collide & After Worlds Collide. In 7th grade I read A Clockwork Orange, (not allowed in the library by the way.) What a rebel.

Why the meetings are boring and uninspiring
by UnshackleTheChains ineach individual may have their own views as to why they feel the meetings are boring and uninspiring.
in my case i find the midweek meeting so, because of the constant emphasis on pitching watchtower literature.
its just monotonous and one big yawn.. i watch other christian faiths where they open up a chapter of the bible and discuss it's contents.

Do You Know Any “Gay” Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inof course the religion condemns homosexuality but did you know any gay witnesses?
i knew some bethelites that were very effeminate and i remember 4 women who were suspected of being lesbians by many in the congregation.
they eventually moved away and were very vocal against males, especially elders..

Since it is forbidden to act on such desires you only know for sure when they tell you or are DF'd and hanging around other gays. Of course I suspected a few people of such leanings but as has been said, that isn't proof. Don't forget, if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck.....

Creepy, creepy movie "Wanda Nevada"
by James Mixon inwanda nevada (brooke shields) a 13 year old girl and a man 30 some years old (peter fonda) not only expressing their love for each other, but forming a relationship and end up running away together, yes a little creepy.
couldn't sleep last night so around 4 o'clock it was on....the movie made in 1979 what the hell was hollywood thinking when making this movie, a love story romance/westerns......

What about this acclaimed Oscar prospect film, "Call Me by Your Name." About a 17 year old boy in an affair with a 30 something year old man. Hollywood is screaming about all the sex abuse in their industry but are lauding this pedophile showcase for an Oscar? Pull your head out people.
